Surah Al-'Adiyat · The Courser

وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ ضَبْحًا ۝١

wal-ʿādiyāti ḍabḥā

By the racers, panting,

فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ قَدْحًا ۝٢

fal-mūriyāti qadḥā

And the producers of sparks [when] striking

فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبْحًا ۝٣

fal-mughīrāti ṣub'ḥā

And the chargers at dawn,

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا ۝٤

fa-atharna bihi naqʿā

Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا ۝٥

fawasaṭna bihi jamʿā

Arriving thereby in the center collectively,

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ ۝٦

inna l-insāna lirabbihi lakanūd

Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ ۝٧

wa-innahu ʿalā dhālika lashahīd

And indeed, he is to that a witness.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ ۝٨

wa-innahu liḥubbi l-khayri lashadīd

And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.

۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ ۝٩

afalā yaʿlamu idhā buʿ'thira mā fī l-qubūr

But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ ۝١٠

waḥuṣṣila mā fī l-ṣudūr

And that within the breasts is obtained,

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌۢ ۝١١

inna rabbahum bihim yawma-idhin lakhabīr

Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.
