Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Qurrah is an app that helps children memorize the Holy Quran, and it is managed by a parent or guardian. We collect as little data as possible, we do not sell it, we do not show ads, and we do not use advertising trackers.
1. Who owns the account
The account is a family account. It is created and managed by a parent or guardian (aged 18 or over), called “the parent” in this policy. A child does not create an account or enter an email address. The parent is the one who adds the children's profiles and consents to the processing of their data, and can edit or delete that data at any time. Here, “the parent” also includes anyone who cares for or teaches the child with their parent's or guardian's permission, such as a carer, a teacher or a school.
2. What we collect
- Account data: the parent's email address. If you sign in with a Google account, we receive from Google only the account's email address, name and public profile picture, and we cannot access anything else in your account.
- Child's profile: first name (and an optional second name), age group, the look of their illustrated character, and their memorization plan.
- Photos of the child (optional): a photo of the face or a full-length photo, if the parent uploads one. The background is removed on your own device; the photo is then saved in private storage that can only be opened through temporary links.
- Memorization progress: the verses and surahs memorized, review dates, stars, medals and points, practice time, and the gifts the parent adds.
- Recordings of the child's voice (optional): when “Voice recording” is turned on, the child records their recitation so the parent can listen to it. The Qurrah team may listen to some recordings, only to improve the app and fix problems. Recordings are not published or shared with anyone. This is a separate consent, and you can turn it off in Settings.
- Daily reminder (optional): your device's browser notification address and the time you chose.
- Family details (optional): country and city, your relationship to the child, what you are interested in, how you heard about Qurrah, and a WhatsApp number. We make a first estimate of your country from your connection (the country only, not the IP address) so that you can confirm or change it.
- Consent record: the date you agreed to this policy and to voice recording.
We do not ask for a date of birth, a full address or a precise location, and the app has no chat or any way for users to contact each other.
3. Why we use it
- To save your children's progress and sync it between your devices.
- To show recordings and reports to the parent in the “Parents' area”.
- To send sign-in emails to your address, and the daily reminder and weekly summary if you turn them on.
- To show “Heroes of the week” under the conditions in section 4.
- To improve the service and offer what suits your country and interests.
- To protect the service from misuse and to fix faults.
We do not use children's data for advertising or to build marketing profiles, or to train artificial intelligence models.
4. Heroes of the week
A motivational board that shows the names and points of the children who have worked hardest. Only the first and second names appear on it, with no other data. The parent can hide their child from it in “Edit child's profile”. The child's photo is not shown to anyone outside your family unless the parent agrees to show it and the Qurrah team has reviewed and approved it; otherwise, the illustrated character is shown. Entries on the board are deleted automatically after three weeks.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent data. We use providers who process data on our behalf, only to run the service:
- Cloudflare: the audio recitation files (these contain no personal data).
- Resend: sending sign-in emails.
- Google: signing in with a Google account, for those who choose it, and the website's fonts.
- Browser notification services (from Google, Apple or Mozilla, depending on your device) to deliver the reminder.
Data may be stored on these providers' servers outside your country, with appropriate safeguards. We may disclose data if the law requires us to.
6. How long we keep it
- Voice recordings: deleted automatically after the period you choose (30, 90 or 180 days), or immediately whenever you delete them.
- Heroes of the week entries: deleted after three weeks.
- All other family data: kept for as long as the account exists, and deleted when the account is deleted.
7. Your rights and control over your data
From “Settings” in the Parents' area, you can:
- Edit any child's profile, reset their progress, or delete the child together with all of their data.
- Turn off voice recording, and delete all recordings.
- Download a copy of your family's data (a JSON file).
- Permanently delete the account and all of its data from the server.
You can also ask us to let you see your data, correct it or delete it by writing to the email address in section 10, and we will reply within 30 days.
8. On your device
We use Google Analytics only to know the number of visitors and which pages are used most, with its advertising features turned off. We do not send it children's names or any data from your account.
The app keeps a copy of your progress, and of pages and recitations, on your device (the browser's local storage) so that it works without the internet. We do not use cookies for advertising; Google Analytics sets cookies only to measure visits. You can clear this copy in your browser settings.
9. Security
The connection is always encrypted (HTTPS). Each family can see only its own data, and photos and recordings are kept in private storage that can only be opened through temporary links. No system is completely secure; if a leak affects your data, we will tell you.
10. Contact and changes
For any privacy question or request: privacy@qurrah.me.
If we make a material change to this policy, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we will update the date at the top of this page.
