Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: a Quran story for kids
An illustrated story from the Holy Quran in 8 pages, with its ayat from Surah Al-'Alaq and their meaning for a child.
Our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was born in Makkah. His father died before he was born, and his mother died when he was little, so his grandfather and then his uncle Abu Talib cared for him. Allah says to him:
﴿أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَـَٔاوَىٰ﴾
Ad-Duhaa 93:6It means: Did He not find you an orphan, and give you a home and someone to care for you?
Muhammad grew up truthful and trustworthy. He never lied, and he kept people’s things safe, so his people called him “the Truthful, the Trustworthy.” Allah says:
Al-Ahzab 33:21It means: In the Messenger of Allah you have a beautiful example to follow.
Think: What does it mean to be trustworthy?
He used to go to the cave of Hira on Mount Nur, to think and worship Allah. There the angel Jibril came to him with the very first words of the Quran:
﴿ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ﴾
Al-'Alaq 96:1It means: Read in the name of your Lord, who created everything.
And Muhammad became the Messenger of Allah to all people.
He went home afraid, and his wife Khadijah comforted him: “No, by Allah, Allah will never let you down. You are good to your family, you help the weak, and you honour your guests.”
She meant: you are kind to your family, you help the weak, and you welcome guests, so Allah will not leave you.
Think: How do you comfort a friend who is afraid?
Allah told him to call people to worship Allah alone. So he climbed the hill of Safa and called out to his family and his people. Allah says:
Ash-Shu'ara 26:214It means: And warn the people closest to you in your family.
Some believed in him and many hurt him, but he was patient and never gave up.
When the harm grew worse, Allah allowed him to move to Madinah. He left with his friend Abu Bakr, and they hid in the cave of Thawr. When the disbelievers reached the cave’s entrance, Abu Bakr was afraid, and the Prophet said to him:
﴿لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَنَا﴾
At-Tawbah 9:40It means: Do not be sad. Allah is with us, protecting and helping us.
Think: When do you remember that Allah is with you?
On the way he built the mosque of Quba. Then he reached Madinah, and its people were overjoyed. He built his mosque from palm trunks, and made the Muslims brothers to one another. Allah says:
At-Tawbah 9:108It means: A mosque founded on fearing Allah from the very first day (the mosque of Quba) is more worthy for you to pray in.
The Prophet spent his life teaching people what is good, kind to the old and the young, and even to animals. Allah says:
Al-Anbya 21:107It means: We have sent you, Muhammad, only as a mercy to all people.
Peace and blessings be upon him. We love him and follow his way.
Think: How can you be merciful like the Prophet?
